Water brushes, or water brush pens, are special brushes that feature empty barrels or reservoirs wherein water, or any water-soluable colour medium can be filled. By gently squeezing the chamber the water, dye or ink then flows through to the brush head giving you the artistic effect of a brush and the control of a pen. Suitable for use with many creative mediums such as dry and wet watercolours, charcoal, dyes, acrylic drawing inks, soft chalk pastels, watercolour markers and watercolour pencils. How you make use of a water brush or water brush pen is entirely up to the medium you are using. They are so versatile, portable and lend themselves to many colour products. For use with dry watercolours - Fill the chamber with water and sprinkle some drops of water onto your dry watercolour pans or cakes. Use the brush tip to massage the water into the colour medium. Bring the colours you want to use into a mixing tray which will aid in colour blending and getting colour onto your brush. Control the saturation of water by squeezing the barrel while working. For use with wet watercolours - bring the colours you want to use into a mixing tray. Gently squeeze the chamber to initate water flow to the brush. Using another brush or the water brush pen, apply the wet waterclours to the page /canvas and then use the saturated waterbrush to create your blends, washes and glazes. Control the saturation of water by squeezing the barrel while working. For use with watercolour markers or pencils - make your desired mark with the watercolour markers or pencils on your paper or canvas and use a water filled brush pen to create washes and blends of colour. For use with watersoluable dye - bring the colours you would like to use onto a mixing tray or paint palette. Then dip a water filled brush into the dye before marking the surface OR after marking the surface to create tones and shading. Alternatively you could dilute the watersoluable dye and fill the barrel with this colour mixture instead. For use with watersoluable inks - bring the colours you would like to use onto a mixing tray or paint palette. Alternatively you could dilute the watersoluable ink and fill the barrel with this colour mixture instead. Cleaning up after filling resevoir with water: 1. Wipe any excess colour off of the brush tip. 2. Ensure there is water in the reservoir and squeeze the water chamber to initiate flow into the bristles. Brush tips may look dirty when they have actually just been stained. Wipe and repeat until colour no longer comes off of the bristles. Cleaning up after filling the resevoir with a diluted colour solution: 1. Take your pen apart by unscrewing the brush head from the water chamber. 2. Rinse these parts in some warm, slightly soapy water to get most of the colour out of the bristles and chamber and then in some clean water. 3. Fill the chamber with clean water and assemble the pen. Squeeze the chamber to initiate water flow and wipe the bristles and repeat until colour is no longer coming out of the bristles. 4. Empty the chamber of any excess water, then disassemble the pen again and leave to dry for next time.
